Welcome to Pulch Mag.

A magazine celebrating the diversity and creativity of young people in WA.

Originally founded in 2020, Pulch is a small independent publication for young West Australian artists and writers. We produce print editions and online publications, specialising in works of fiction, poetry and non-fiction. We strive to celebrate the diversity and creativity of young individuals living in WA, providing our emerging artists and writers with opportunities to network alongside fellow creatives and have their works be published.

In 2020, Pulch published the works of local artists and writers online. All of these creative works are still available on our website. In 2021, we released our first print edition with over 25 contributors from all over WA, which received lots of love, praise and support from the community. In 2022, we released a second print edition with approximately 21 contributors, which is now available to purchase through our website and local bookstores, including Crow Books (East Victoria Park), Planet Books (Mount Lawley) and New Edition (Fremantle).

In 2023, Pulch went on hiatus to hand over the publication to a new team and prioritise administrative tasks. We now have plans to switch to online/digital publication for 2024.

If you have any questions, please message us on social media or drop us an email at hello@pulchmag.com and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

Our Impact:

“Supporting young emerging writers at an earlier stage is so important to help the individual writers continue to grow and to encourage them to keep going. Having a literary space for young voices is an integral part of keeping the arts thriving, as it is part of the whole ecosystem. I want to see Pulch continue to grow and evolve as a publication and a literary space, and having lots of different voices be a part of that is very important. I know this is about Pulch in print but one of my poems first published in Pulch online and edited by one of the amazing editors is now going to be published in the new anthology Best of Australian Poems 2021. So that’s very cool and I think it speaks to the impact it’s had for me, as that poem wouldn’t have become what it was without me sending it to Pulch and having it published by them.” – Kaya Ortiz, Contributor 2020, 2021

“I’ve never been published in anything before so it’s good to get that experience and exposure. Pulch gives younger creatives a chance to put their work out there. There currently isn’t much opportunity for young creatives to publish their work so more editions of Pulch would definitely be beneficial.” – Leander Cruz, Contributor 2021

Donate to support Pulch Mag:

As we would eventually like to go back to producing print editions, all donations will go directly to production costs in order to keep Pulch up and running. We would love to keep the youth arts culture of Boorloo alive, and will appreciate any support we can get.
